This trail is named for only getting one hour of sunlight per day, but don’t let that deter you. This trail is a difficult trail that requires good shoes. The trail includes amazing scenery with plenty of climbing through & up rocks. In the winter months the trail has amazing ice formations which are a local favorite to capture in photos.
- From Spearfish, take Spearfish Canyon Rd until just before two large rocks nicknamed “Kissing Rocks” or “Dice,” near mile marker 20.
- The parking area which is very limited is on the left. Take the unmarked trail on the right side of the road.
