Distance: 1.7m round trip | Climb: 139ft | Surface: dirt, rocks
To begin the hike, walk around the gate and follow the path. This is an easy trail that is good for both beginners and runners. The trail brings you through thick forest mostly on a wide, maintained road. At the end of the hike, you will be on the rim of the Stratobowl where there is a history plaque about the balloon flights in the 1930’s & 1950’s.
From Rapid City, take Hwy 16 south towards Rockerville. About 2 miles past Bear Country, right after the Conoco station, you will see a little turnout on the right with a gate across the road. Park here, this is the trailhead.
